Category Manager - Indirect Procurement

About the Role

Our client is looking for a strategic Category Manager with expertise in Indirect Procurement to join their dynamic team in Cardiff . This role is responsible for managing a specific portfolio of indirect spend categories, including IT, facilities management, professional services, and marketing. You will drive value by developing category strategies, leading complex sourcing events, and building strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the business to ensure procurement objectives are met and aligned with organisational goals, contributing to significant cost savings and improved service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies for indirect spend, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and value enhancement.
• Lead end-to-end sourcing processes, including tendering, evaluation, negotiation, and contract award for assigned categories.
• Manage key supplier relationships within your categories, ensuring performance against contracts and service level agreements.
• Collaborate closely with internal business units to understand their requirements and translate them into effective procurement solutions.
• Conduct market analysis to stay abreast of trends, innovations, and risks within the indirect spend landscape.
• Monitor and report on category performance, identifying areas for continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive experience in indirect procurement or category management.
• Proven ability to develop and execute strategic sourcing plans.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience managing complex contracts.
• Excellent understanding of indirect spend categories and market dynamics.
• Ability to influence and build relationships with senior stakeholders across diverse functions.
• Relevant degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
