Category Manager - Indirect Procurement

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Category Manager specializing in Indirect Procurement to join their team in Bradford . This senior role will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies for non-production goods and services, driving value, innovation, and cost savings. You will manage key supplier relationships, conduct market analysis, and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across various departments to meet their strategic sourcing needs. This is a critical position for shaping procurement excellence in West Yorkshire.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for key indirect spend categories (e.g., IT, Marketing, Facilities, Professional Services).
• Lead complex negotiations with suppliers to achieve best-in-class pricing, terms, and service levels.
• Conduct thorough market analysis to understand supplier landscapes, risks, and opportunities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with senior internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and influence spend.
• Manage supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all procurement policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Substantial experience as a Category Manager or in a senior strategic sourcing role, with a focus on indirect spend.
• Demonstrated success in leading complex sourcing projects and delivering significant cost savings.
• Expertise in contract negotiation, supplier relationship management, and risk mitigation.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
• Relevant degree or professional qualification (e.g., CIPS) is highly desirable.
