Category Manager - Indirect Procurement

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and experienced Category Manager specializing in Indirect Procurement to join their team based remotely, but with an operational hub in Cardiff . This role is crucial for developing and executing category strategies for non-direct spend, ensuring cost savings, risk mitigation, and value creation. You will be responsible for managing key supplier relationships, leading complex negotiations, and collaborating with various business units to understand their procurement needs. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies for indirect spend areas such as IT, facilities, marketing, and professional services.
• Lead end-to-end sourcing events, including market analysis, RFP development, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation.
• Manage and develop strategic relationships with key suppliers within assigned categories.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve cost savings, enhance service levels, and mitigate supply chain risks.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the business to identify procurement opportunities and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
• Monitor category performance against defined KPIs and provide regular reports to senior management.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in category management or strategic sourcing, specifically within indirect procurement.
• Proven track record of delivering significant cost savings and value through effective negotiation and category strategy.
• Strong understanding of contract management and supplier relationship management principles.
• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in procurement software and data analysis tools.
• Master's degree or equivalent professional qualification in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field is preferred.
