About the Role
Our client seeks a strategic Category Manager specializing in Indirect Spend to join their team in Sunderland . This role embraces a hybrid work model, offering a balance between remote work and on-site engagement. You will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies for non-product-related expenditure, such as IT, marketing, travel, and professional services. Your expertise in market analysis, supplier relationship management, and contract negotiation will be crucial in driving cost savings, mitigating risks, and improving the overall value delivered to the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for various indirect spend categories.
- Conduct comprehensive market analysis to understand category trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead supplier selection processes, including RFPs, negotiations, and contract awards.
- Manage and develop relationships with key suppliers to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met and continuously improved.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments to align procurement strategies with business objectives.
- Monitor category performance, identify areas for cost reduction, and implement best practices.
Requirements
- Significant experience in category management or strategic sourcing, specifically within indirect spend.
- Proven track record of successfully negotiating complex contracts and delivering cost savings.
- Strong understanding of procurement best practices and supplier relationship management.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in procurement systems and data analysis tools.
