About the Role
Our client is seeking a strategic and commercially astute Category Manager to oversee indirect spend categories within their purchasing department in Liverpool . This role involves developing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving significant cost savings and value creation. You will be responsible for a diverse range of indirect categories, ensuring they are aligned with the company's overall business objectives. This position utilizes a hybrid working model, blending essential in-office collaboration with the flexibility of remote work, enabling effective stakeholder engagement and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust category strategies for indirect spend areas, such as IT, facilities, and professional services.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing events, including market analysis, RFx processes, and contract negotiations.
- Manage and develop strategic relationships with key suppliers within assigned categories.
- Identify and drive cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure supply chain alignment.
- Monitor category performance against KPIs and provide regular reporting on spend, savings, and risks.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Category Manager or in a senior strategic sourcing role, with a focus on indirect spend.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing category strategies and achieving significant cost savings.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, comfortable in a hybrid environment.
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in supply chain, business, or a related field.
