Category Manager - IT Procurement

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Category Manager with expertise in IT Procurement to join their team in Glasgow . This strategic role is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for all IT-related goods and services, including hardware, software, and telecommunications. You will manage key supplier relationships, negotiate complex contracts, and drive significant cost savings while ensuring alignment with technology roadmaps and business needs. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the IT landscape and a proven ability to deliver value through effective procurement practices, working within a busy procurement department that values innovation and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the category strategy for IT procurement, covering hardware, software, cloud services, and telecom.
• Lead sourcing events, including RFPs and RFIs, and conduct detailed supplier evaluations.
• Negotiate favourable terms, pricing, and service level agreements (SLAs) with IT vendors.
• Manage ongoing supplier performance and relationships to ensure value and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate closely with IT stakeholders to understand technology requirements and future needs.
• Monitor IT market trends, identify emerging technologies, and assess their procurement implications.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Category Manager or senior buyer with a specialization in IT procurement.
• In-depth knowledge of IT hardware, software licensing, cloud solutions, and IT services procurement.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience in managing complex IT contracts and SLAs.
• Excellent analytical skills to evaluate market trends and financial proposals.
• Ability to build strong relationships with internal IT teams and external vendors.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent industry experience.
