About the Role
Our client is seeking a strategic and commercially astute Category Manager to oversee a key category within their FMCG portfolio, based in our Portsmouth office. This role is instrumental in driving category growth, profitability, and market share through insightful data analysis, effective product assortment, and strong supplier relationships. You will be responsible for understanding consumer needs, market dynamics, and competitive landscapes to develop and implement category strategies that deliver exceptional value. This position requires a forward-thinking individual who can lead cross-functional teams and make data-driven decisions to enhance our product offering and customer experience within a bustling retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the category strategy, including product assortment, pricing, promotions, and merchandising plans.
- Analyze category performance data, market trends, and consumer insights to identify growth opportunities and risks.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring product availability and quality.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop and implement effective go-to-market strategies for new products and promotions.
- Monitor competitor activities and market dynamics to maintain a competitive edge.
- Ensure category plans align with overall company objectives and financial targets.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Category Manager or in a similar commercial role within the FMCG sector.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data, market research, and consumer insights.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing category strategies that drive sales and profitability.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Familiarity with retail merchandising principles and supply chain management.
