Category Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Category Manager to oversee a significant category within their FMCG business, based in Birmingham . This role is crucial for driving category growth, optimizing product assortments, and strengthening relationships with key retail partners. You will leverage data-driven insights to identify market trends, develop strategic category plans, and ensure the successful implementation of initiatives that enhance brand presence and consumer appeal, playing a vital part in maintaining our client's strong position in the retail landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic category plans, focusing on sales growth , market share, and profitability.
• Manage relationships with key retail buyers and stakeholders, presenting category insights and proposals.
• Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities and threats.
• Optimize product assortment, pricing strategies, and promotional activities for the assigned category.
• Collaborate with internal teams including Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance to align on category objectives.
• Present category performance reviews and strategic recommendations to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience (5+ years) as a Category Manager or similar role in the FMCG industry .
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Nielsen, IRI) and Microsoft Excel.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful category strategies.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience managing budgets and P&L responsibilities.
