About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Chemical Engineer with a focus on Environmental Compliance to join their operations in Plymouth . This role is vital for ensuring that all chemical processes and operations meet or exceed stringent environmental regulations. You will be responsible for monitoring environmental performance, implementing pollution control measures, and managing waste streams effectively. Working primarily on-site, you will collaborate with plant personnel and external regulatory bodies to uphold the company's commitment to environmental stewardship. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer passionate about sustainability and regulatory affairs within the chemical industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and report on key environmental performance indicators (EPIs) for chemical processes.
- Develop and implement strategies for waste reduction, treatment, and disposal.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental permits and regulations (e.g., emissions, wastewater).
- Conduct environmental impact assessments for new projects and process modifications.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and respond to environmental inquiries.
- Develop and deliver environmental awareness training to site personnel.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in environmental compliance, ideally within a chemical manufacturing setting.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes.
- Experience with environmental monitoring and control technologies.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex technical and regulatory information.
