About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive Chemical Engineer focused on New Product Development for their advanced materials division in Reading . This role involves translating research breakthroughs into viable, scalable manufacturing processes for innovative new products. You will be involved in pilot-scale testing, process validation, and seamless handover to commercial production teams. This is a challenging and rewarding position for an engineer passionate about bringing novel chemical products to market, contributing significantly to the company's innovation pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and scale-up chemical processes for new products from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial scale.
- Conduct process development studies, including reaction kinetics, mass transfer, and separation optimization.
- Design and execute pilot plant trials, analyse results, and prepare detailed technical reports.
- Collaborate closely with R&D chemists, formulation scientists, and manufacturing teams.
- Ensure all process designs adhere to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Troubleshoot process issues encountered during development and initial production phases.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related scientific discipline.
- Proven experience in process development, scale-up, and pilot plant operations.
- Familiarity with a range of chemical synthesis and manufacturing techniques.
- Strong understanding of process safety and risk assessment principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
