About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Chemical Engineer to join their operational team at their manufacturing site in Portsmouth . This hands-on role is crucial for ensuring the safe, efficient, and optimal performance of chemical production processes. You will be directly involved in plant operations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities, working closely with production staff and maintenance teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in chemical engineering principles and a practical mindset, contributing to the reliable and high-quality output of the plant, and playing a key role in supporting day-to-day manufacturing activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control chemical processes to ensure they operate within specified parameters for quality and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot operational issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
- Conduct regular process reviews and identify opportunities for improvement in yield, energy consumption, and waste reduction.
- Ensure all operations comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new process procedures and training materials.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team on equipment reliability and preventative maintenance programs.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 1-3 years of experience in a chemical plant or manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of chemical process equipment and operations.
- Basic knowledge of process safety principles and environmental regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment and communicate clearly with diverse teams.
