About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Chemical Engineer with expertise in polymer science to join their innovative team in Derby . This role is central to the research, development, and production of advanced polymer materials. You will be involved in designing and optimizing processes for polymerization, material characterization, and product formulation. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize polymerization processes to achieve desired material properties.
- Characterize polymers using techniques such as GPC, DSC, TGA, and mechanical testing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to polymer synthesis, processing, and quality control.
- Develop and implement protocols for new polymer formulations and product development.
- Collaborate with research scientists and product development teams to bring new materials to market.
- Ensure all processes comply with safety and environmental regulations.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or Materials Science with a specialization in polymers.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in polymer science and engineering, including process development and scale-up.
- Strong understanding of polymerization mechanisms, polymer characterization techniques, and material properties.
- Experience with extrusion, injection molding, or other polymer processing technologies is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and experimental design skills.
- Proficiency in technical documentation and reporting.
