About the Role
Our client is a global leader in advanced materials, seeking a skilled Chemical Engineer with specialized experience in polymerization processes to join their team, which operates remotely with occasional travel to Leeds . This role focuses on the research, development, and optimization of novel polymerization techniques and reactor designs to create high-performance polymers for diverse applications. You will play a key role in advancing our material science capabilities, contributing directly to product innovation and manufacturing efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical foundation and practical experience in polymer chemistry and chemical process engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize polymerization processes, including batch, semi-batch, and continuous systems.
- Design and conduct experiments to evaluate new catalysts, monomers, and additives.
- Model and simulate polymerization kinetics and reactor performance to predict outcomes and guide process improvements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues in polymerization reactors and associated downstream processing.
- Collaborate with materials scientists and product development teams to tailor polymer properties to specific application requirements.
- Ensure all process development activities in Leeds adhere to stringent safety and quality standards.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science.
- At least 5 years of experience in polymer process research and development.
- Demonstrated expertise in various polymerization techniques (e.g., free radical, anionic, cationic, condensation).
- Experience with polymer characterization techniques (e.g., GPC, DSC, NMR).
- Proficiency in process simulation and modeling relevant to polymerization reactors.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
