Chemical Engineer - Process Safety

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proficient Chemical Engineer with a strong focus on process safety to join their team based in Belfast . This role is crucial for maintaining and enhancing the safety standards of our client's operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. You will be involved in hazard identification, risk assessment, and the implementation of robust safety protocols across various chemical processes. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough process hazard analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP studies, LOPA, and FMEA.
• Develop and update safety procedures, operating manuals, and emergency response plans.
• Investigate process safety incidents, near misses, and deviations, recommending corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation and industry standards.
• Provide expert advice on process safety aspects during the design, modification, and operation of chemical facilities.
• Deliver process safety training to engineering and operational staff.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in process engineering, with a significant focus on safety management.
• In-depth understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and practices.
• Experience with risk assessment tools and methodologies.
• Knowledge of relevant UK and international safety regulations (e.g., COMAH).
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.
