Chemical Engineer - Product Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative Chemical Engineer to join their dedicated Product Development team based in Southampton . This role is pivotal in translating new concepts into tangible chemical products and processes. You will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from initial research and bench-scale development through to pilot plant trials and eventual commercialization. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a hands-on capacity, contributing directly to the creation of novel solutions within a supportive and collaborative environment in our Southampton facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory experiments and pilot plant trials to develop and optimize new chemical products and processes.
• Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare comprehensive reports and technical recommendations.
• Collaborate closely with R&D chemists, formulators, and manufacturing engineers to ensure successful product scale-up.
• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for new processes.
• Ensure all development activities adhere to company safety standards, environmental regulations, and quality control procedures.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges encountered during product development and scale-up phases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 2-5 years of experience in product development or process engineering, preferably within the chemical industry.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and pilot plant operations.
• Strong understanding of chemical principles, reaction kinetics, and separation processes.
• Excellent data analysis, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team in Southampton .
