About the Role
Our client, a dynamic force in specialty chemical production, is seeking a motivated Chemical Engineer with strong project management capabilities to join their team in Plymouth . This role involves leading cross-functional teams to deliver capital projects and process improvement initiatives on time and within budget. You will bridge the gap between technical engineering requirements and project execution, ensuring successful implementation of new technologies and plant upgrades. This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to manage significant engineering projects in a coastal industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of capital projects, from conception and feasibility studies to design, construction, and commissioning.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource plans.
- Coordinate with internal departments (engineering, operations, procurement) and external vendors/contractors.
- Ensure projects comply with all safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Track project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Communicate project status updates to stakeholders and senior management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering .
- Proven experience in project engineering or project management within the chemical industry.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, Prince2).
- Familiarity with process design, equipment selection, and construction practices.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
