About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative Chemical Engineer to join their dedicated Research and Development team in Derby . This role is integral to the exploration and development of new chemical processes and products, focusing on bringing novel concepts from the laboratory to pilot scale. You will be involved in experimental design, process modeling, and technical evaluation, contributing to the company's future growth and technological advancements. Key Responsibilities
- Design and conduct experiments to investigate and optimize new chemical processes and synthesis routes.
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and conduct preliminary hazard assessments for new technologies.
- Utilize process simulation software to model and evaluate potential process designs and operating conditions.
- Scale up processes from laboratory bench-scale to pilot plant, documenting all steps and outcomes.
- Collaborate with research chemists, engineers, and project managers on R&D initiatives.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and contribute to patent applications.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in chemical process R&D, scale-up, or process development.
- Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and pilot plant operations.
- Strong understanding of fundamental chemical engineering principles, including reaction kinetics and thermodynamics.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
