About the Role
Our client is seeking a hands-on and experienced Chemical Plant Engineer to manage and optimize operations at their facility in Portsmouth . This role is crucial for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our chemical processing plant. You will be responsible for overseeing maintenance, troubleshooting operational issues, and implementing improvements to enhance plant performance and safety. This is a critical on-site role requiring a practical approach and a strong understanding of industrial chemical processes and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the chemical plant, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
- Develop and implement robust preventative maintenance programs for all plant equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and process-related issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with external vendors for equipment repairs and upgrades.
- Analyze plant performance data and implement strategies for continuous improvement in efficiency and output.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a plant engineering or operations role within the chemical industry.
- Strong knowledge of chemical processing equipment, including reactors, pumps, heat exchangers, and distillation columns.
- Proven experience with process safety management (PSM) principles.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team of technicians and operators in Portsmouth .
