About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Chemical Process Development Chemist to join their innovative research and development team in Southampton . This role focuses on translating laboratory discoveries into scalable and commercially viable chemical processes. You will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing experiments to optimize reaction conditions, improve yields, and ensure process robustness. This is an excellent opportunity for a chemist with a strong understanding of process engineering principles to make a significant contribution to the development of new products and technologies within a collaborative and cutting-edge environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute laboratory experiments to develop and optimize chemical synthesis routes.
- Evaluate and select appropriate raw materials, catalysts, and reaction conditions for process efficiency and scalability.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data to identify key process parameters and potential scale-up challenges.
- Conduct process safety assessments and ensure safe handling of chemicals and equipment.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to project teams and management.
- Collaborate with chemical engineers to ensure seamless transition from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial production.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering , or a related scientific field.
- Proven experience in process chemistry, reaction optimization, and scale-up.
- Strong understanding of analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, NMR, and MS.
- Familiarity with process safety principles and risk assessment.
- Excellent experimental design and data analysis skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
