About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Chemical Process Development Engineer to join their innovative research and development team in Birmingham . This role focuses on scaling up new chemical processes from laboratory to pilot and commercial scale, ensuring feasibility, safety, and efficiency. You will play a key part in translating novel chemical syntheses into robust industrial applications, working closely with R&D chemists and plant engineers. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize chemical processes for scale-up, focusing on yield, purity, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- Design and execute pilot plant trials, collecting and analyzing data to validate process parameters.
- Collaborate with R&D chemists to understand reaction mechanisms and kinetics, translating findings into scalable operations.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, process flow diagrams, and operational guidelines for manufacturing.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies and equipment suitable for process intensification and improved sustainability.
- Ensure all process development activities comply with stringent safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- 3-5 years of experience in process development, scale-up, or pilot plant operations.
- Proficiency in process modeling and simulation tools for scale-up predictions.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory and pilot plant equipment.
- Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering and separation technologies.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to present complex technical data effectively.
