About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Chemical Process Engineer with expertise in automation and control systems to join their operations in Nottingham . This role is vital for enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and safety of chemical manufacturing processes through advanced control strategies and automation technologies. You will design, implement, and maintain sophisticated control systems, optimizing plant performance and reducing operational variability. Working within a hybrid environment, you will collaborate closely with instrumentation engineers, operators, and management to drive digital transformation and operational excellence in chemical manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and commission process control strategies and automation solutions for chemical plants.
• Develop and maintain control system software, including PLC/DCS programming and HMI development.
• Optimize process performance through advanced control techniques, ensuring stability, efficiency, and product quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to process control systems and instrumentation.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure the reliability and uptime of automated systems.
• Stay current with emerging automation technologies and recommend their implementation where beneficial.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering , Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process control and automation engineering within the chemical or process industries.
• Proficiency with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Strong understanding of process dynamics, instrumentation, and control theory.
• Experience with process simulation and modeling for control system design.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project execution skills in a hybrid work setting.
