About the Role
Our client is seeking a dynamic Chemical Process Engineer with a specialization in scale-up to join their growing team in Birmingham . This role is crucial for translating laboratory innovations into viable industrial-scale production. You will be responsible for the technical design, execution, and monitoring of pilot plant and full-scale production processes, ensuring efficiency, safety, and product quality. The successful candidate will work closely with research scientists and manufacturing teams, bridging the gap between R&D and commercialization. We are looking for a proactive individual with excellent problem-solving abilities and a passion for bringing new chemical products to market effectively and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute pilot plant trials and scale-up studies for new chemical processes.
- Develop detailed process descriptions, equipment specifications, and operating procedures for manufacturing.
- Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement safety measures for scale-up activities.
- Optimize existing manufacturing processes to improve yield, throughput, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with engineering, R&D, and operations departments to ensure successful technology transfer and implementation.
- Analyze process data to identify trends, troubleshoot deviations, and recommend corrective actions.
Requirements
- B.Eng. or M.Eng. in Chemical Engineering .
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering, with a significant focus on scale-up and pilot plant operations.
- Experience with process safety management (PSM) and hazard analysis techniques .
- Proficiency in using process modeling and simulation software.
- Strong understanding of unit operations relevant to chemical manufacturing.
- Excellent documentation and report-writing skills.
