Chemical Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client requires a dedicated Chemical Process Safety Engineer to ensure the highest safety standards are maintained at their facilities in Wolverhampton . This role is critical in managing and mitigating risks associated with chemical processes, ensuring the well-being of employees and the surrounding community. You will lead safety initiatives, conduct rigorous risk assessments, and develop robust safety protocols. Working closely with plant operations and engineering teams, you will play a vital role in fostering a strong safety culture. This is a key position for a safety-focused engineer dedicated to operational excellence in the West Midlands.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage process safety management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct comprehensive hazard identification and risk assessment studies, including HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL assessments.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international process safety regulations and standards.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to site personnel.
• Review engineering designs and modifications to ensure they meet safety requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field with a specialization in process safety.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience focused on process safety in the chemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements , hazard analysis techniques, and risk management methodologies.
• Familiarity with relevant safety standards and regulations (e.g., COMAH, OSHA PSM).
• Strong analytical and investigative skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities to promote safety culture.
