About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Chemical Process Safety Engineer to ensure the highest standards of safety across their operations in Plymouth, Devon . This vital role involves identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential hazards associated with chemical processes and plant operations. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and management teams to develop and implement robust safety management systems and procedures. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) including HAZOP, LOPA, and risk assessments.
- Develop and implement process safety procedures, management systems, and emergency response plans.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide training and guidance to site personnel on process safety best practices.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related safety discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in process safety engineering, preferably in the chemical or petrochemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies and safety management systems (e.g., OSHA PSM, COMAH).
- Familiarity with relevant safety standards and legislation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
