About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Child Protection Officer to join their remote Community & Social Care team serving the Leeds area. This pivotal role focuses on ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people by investigating concerns, assessing risks, and implementing robust safeguarding plans. You will be instrumental in collaborating with families, statutory agencies, and support services to provide a coordinated and effective response to safeguarding issues, all while operating from a remote location. Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly and effectively to child protection referrals, conducting thorough investigations and risk assessments.
- Develop, implement, and monitor child protection plans in collaboration with relevant agencies and family members.
- Provide expert advice and support to colleagues, partner agencies, and families on safeguarding matters.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for case conferences, court proceedings, and other statutory meetings.
- Maintain meticulous records of all interactions, assessments, and interventions in the designated case management system.
- Champion best practice in child protection, staying updated on relevant legislation and policy changes.
Requirements
- A recognised qualification in Social Work, or a related professional discipline, with current registration.
- Significant experience in child protection, child safeguarding, or child welfare services.
- In-depth knowledge of child protection legislation, policies, and procedures, particularly within the UK context.
- Proven ability to conduct complex assessments, manage high-risk cases, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills, with strong IT proficiency for remote working.
- Resilience, sound judgement, and the ability to handle challenging and sensitive situations with professionalism.
