About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Child Protection Social Worker to join their vital team in Newcastle upon Tyne . This challenging yet rewarding role involves safeguarding children and young people, investigating concerns of abuse and neglect, and ensuring their safety and well-being. You will work closely with families, other professionals, and agencies to provide comprehensive support and intervention. This position requires a resilient individual with a strong commitment to child welfare, operating within a framework that prioritizes the best interests of the child, and contributing to the enhancement of child protection services in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake statutory child protection investigations, including section 47 enquiries and evidence gathering.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for internal case conferences, court proceedings, and other relevant bodies.
- Develop and implement robust child protection plans, ensuring effective monitoring and review.
- Work collaboratively with the police, health services, schools, and other agencies to ensure coordinated safeguarding responses.
- Provide expert advice and support to families, enabling them to meet their children's needs safely.
- Manage a caseload of complex child protection cases, adhering to strict timelines and legal requirements.
Requirements
- Professional social work qualification (e.g., BSc Social Sciences, MA Social Work) and Social Work England registration .
- Significant experience in child protection social work, with a thorough understanding of relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct effective assessments and develop intervention strategies.
- Excellent report-writing skills and the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in using social care IT systems for case management.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
