About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Childcare Supervisor to join their team at a busy nursery in Portsmouth . This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for overseeing a specific room or age group, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and educational programmes. You will play a key role in mentoring junior staff, liaising with parents, and contributing to the overall smooth running of the nursery operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of early years development and a passion for creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for children to thrive in.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and guide a team of nursery staff, providing support and mentoring to ensure high standards of practice.
- Plan and implement engaging learning activities for children within your designated age group, in line with the EYFS framework.
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and emotional security of all children, adhering strictly to safeguarding policies.
- Liaise effectively with parents and carers, providing regular feedback on their child's progress and addressing any concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of children's development, learning journeys, and any incidents, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of nursery policies and procedures, working collaboratively with senior management.
Requirements
- A relevant Level 3 qualification in Childcare or Early Years Education.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or senior role within a nursery setting.
- A thorough understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- A genuine passion for early childhood education and a commitment to child welfare.
- First aid certification and safeguarding training are essential.
