Job Description
We are recruiting a Support Worker to join a children's residential setting in Minehead, Somerset. This role supports children and young people to feel safe, respected, and empowered, helping them build confidence and achieve their potential within a consistent, caring home environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing safe, consistent day-to-day care within a children's home, maintaining clear boundaries and positive routines in Minehead.
- Building trusting relationships with young people, promoting emotional wellbeing, independence, privacy, dignity, and choice.
- Recording and reporting incidents, accidents, and interventions accurately, and escalating concerns in line with safeguarding procedures.
- Supporting health and wellbeing, including arranging and attending appointments and completing written reports following visits.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, families, social workers, and external professionals to deliver care plans and positive outcomes.
- Supporting education, activities, holidays, and the development of safe social networks.
- Completing practical home duties (meals, cleaning, laundry and general upkeep) to maintain a warm, well-ordered environment.
- Participating in rota patterns including long/short days, weekends, Bank Holidays, and sleep-in duties (11pm-8am).
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience supporting children and young people in a residential or similar care setting (or strong transferable experience).
- A strong understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries, and consistent, child-centred practice.
- Willingness to complete required training for safe care practices and any relevant medical/clinical procedures.
- Ability to complete written records and reports to a high standard.
- Flexibility to work a rota averaging 35 hours per week over a 3-week period, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
