Children's Support Worker - Residential Care

About the Role

Our client is seeking a nurturing and dedicated Children's Support Worker to join their residential care team in Plymouth . This vital role involves providing a safe, stimulating, and supportive environment for children and young people who may have experienced challenging circumstances. You will play a key part in their daily lives, offering emotional support, practical assistance, and guidance to help them thrive and reach their full potential. Working closely with a team of professionals, you will contribute to positive outcomes for the children in our care within the Plymouth region.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality personal care and emotional support to children and young people according to their individual care plans.
• Engage children in meaningful activities, recreation, and education to promote their development and well-being.
• Support children in attending school, appointments, and other community-based activities.
• Observe and monitor children's behaviour and progress, accurately documenting all relevant information.
• Work as part of a team to ensure a safe, nurturing, and consistent care environment.
• Implement behaviour management strategies and contribute to positive outcomes for each child.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children or in a care setting is highly desirable.
• A genuine passion for working with young people and a patient, caring attitude.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
• Willingness to undertake training in childcare, safeguarding, and therapeutic approaches.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins as part of the rota for the Plymouth service.
