Civil Design Engineer - Water Resources

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Civil Design Engineer with expertise in Water Resources to join their innovative team in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK . This role is crucial for the design and implementation of sustainable water management solutions, including drainage, flood defence, and water supply systems. You will work on a variety of challenging projects that protect and enhance the environment and communities across Scotland. This position offers a blend of office-based collaboration and remote flexibility, ideal for an engineer looking to make a tangible impact in the water sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop comprehensive water resource management systems, including surface water drainage, foul water networks, and flood risk assessments.
• Prepare detailed engineering designs, drawings, calculations, and specifications for water and environmental projects.
• Conduct site investigations, hydraulic modeling, and feasibility studies for water infrastructure schemes.
• Ensure designs comply with Scottish water regulations, environmental legislation, and best practice guidelines.
• Collaborate with clients, regulatory bodies, and internal teams to deliver integrated and sustainable water solutions.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase, ensuring designs are implemented effectively and efficiently in Edinburgh .

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related environmental engineering discipline.
• Demonstrated experience (e.g., 5+ years) in the design of water resource and drainage systems.
• Proficiency with relevant design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and hydraulic modeling tools (e.g., InfoWorks, SWMM).
• Strong understanding of Scottish environmental regulations, flood risk management policies, and water quality standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems) design is highly advantageous.
