Civil Engineer - Highways and Transportation

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic Civil Engineer with expertise in Highways and Transportation to join their growing team in Nottingham . This role will involve contributing to the design, planning, and delivery of a variety of road and transportation infrastructure projects, from local road improvements to major highway schemes. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest engineering standards, supporting sustainable transport solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop highway alignment, junction layouts, and road drainage systems using AutoCAD Civil 3D .
• Prepare technical specifications, contract documents, and feasibility studies for highway projects.
• Conduct traffic impact assessments and analyse traffic data to inform design decisions.
• Liaise with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
• Undertake site visits for surveys, supervision of works, and problem resolution.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant DMRB (Design Manual for Roads and Bridges) standards and other UK highway codes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in highway design and transportation engineering .
• Proficiency in highway design software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D and traffic modelling tools.
• Strong knowledge of the UK’s DMRB standards and other relevant highway specifications.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to a hybrid working environment.
