Civil Engineer - Transportation Design

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer with a specialization in Transportation Design to join their thriving practice in Edinburgh . Key Responsibilities

• Undertake the design of highway schemes, junction improvements, and traffic management measures according to national standards and client briefs.
• Develop detailed traffic models, capacity analyses, and transport assessments to support planning and design processes.
• Prepare geometric design drawings, drainage designs, and specification documents for transportation infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate design activities with other disciplines, including structures, utilities, and environmental teams.
• Assist in the preparation of tender documents, bills of quantities, and cost estimates for transportation projects.
• Conduct site visits for existing condition surveys, construction support, and project monitoring.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with a clear focus on transportation.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in transportation engineering design.
• Proficiency in using transportation design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, KeySign, KeyLines, and traffic modelling software (e.g., VISSIM, SATURN).
• Strong understanding of DMRB (Design Manual for Roads and Bridges) and relevant Scottish government guidance.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to solve complex transportation design challenges.
• Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to contribute effectively in a hybrid work environment.
