About the Role
Our client, a respected engineering consultancy in Derby, Derbyshire , is seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to specialize in water resources management. This hybrid role will involve contributing to the design and planning of sustainable water and wastewater infrastructure, including drainage systems, flood risk assessments, and water supply networks. You will work with a dedicated team to deliver solutions that address the region's water management needs, ensuring environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance. This is a fantastic chance to develop your expertise in a critical field of civil engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop surface water drainage strategies and flood alleviation schemes.
- Undertake hydraulic modeling for rivers, culverts, and urban drainage systems.
- Prepare flood risk assessments and manage water management aspects of development projects.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, such as the Environment Agency and local authorities.
- Contribute to the planning and design of water supply and wastewater treatment infrastructure.
- Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications for water resource projects.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related environmental science field.
- Experience (4+ years) in water resources engineering, drainage design, or flood risk management.
- Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, InfoWorks).
- Knowledge of UK drainage standards, flood risk assessment guidelines, and environmental regulations.
- Ability to interpret hydrological data and site information.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
