Clinical Nurse Specialist Allergy and Anaphylaxis Service

The Role

The Allergy Service provides primary, secondary and tertiary clinical care for patients with primary allergies. The post holder will work in conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Specialist Team Lead to provide high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals with both short and long-term conditions. The role involves supporting patients throughout their healthcare journey, from investigations and diagnosis through to education and ongoing management of their condition, including the administration of intravenous and subcutaneous injections and infusions. The post holder will provide support to patients and their families in managing lifelong disorders while working autonomously and as part of the wider multidisciplinary team.

• Permanent Role
• Gartnavel General Hospital
• 36 Hours Per Week (5 flexible days over Monday to Friday)

Key Responsibilities

The post holder will work closely with the Clinical Nurse Specialist Team Lead to deliver patient-centred care for individuals with primary allergies. Responsibilities include supporting patients through investigations, diagnosis and treatment pathways, providing education and advice to patients and their families, administering intravenous and subcutaneous injections and infusions, and promoting self-management of long‑term conditions. The role requires autonomous practice, effective caseload management, and regular liaison with patients and colleagues across a variety of settings, including outpatient clinics and day wards, ensuring a seamless and high‑quality patient experience throughout their care journey.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• Registered Nurse with relevant professional registration.
• Knowledge of allergy services and the management of patients with allergic conditions.
• Experience of patient assessment, care planning and evaluation.
• Understanding of intravenous and subcutaneous therapies and medication administration.
• Knowledge of patient education and support for long‑term condition management.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage a clinical caseload effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of clinical governance, patient safety and risk management principles.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• IT skills relevant to maintaining patient records and communication systems.
