After more than two decades of service, our Club Manager is retiring, and we are looking for the right person to take on one of the most rewarding roles in Aberdeen golf.

Hazlehead Golf Club is a well-established members’ club with a loyal membership and a friendly, sociable atmosphere. The Club Manager is the senior person on site and the face of the clubhouse: running the bar, leading the team, keeping the books straight and making sure members and their guests are looked after.

What makes this role different

The position comes with rent-free accommodation in a self-contained flat attached to the clubhouse, provided as part of the role. On top of the salary, the Club covers:

• Heating and lighting
• Council tax
• Telephone line rental

The flat can be taken furnished or unfurnished, by negotiation with the successful candidate. What you’ll be doing

• Running the day-to-day operation of the clubhouse and bar
• Ordering and managing stock, and keeping quality and service consistent
• Supervising and supporting the bar team and contract cleaning staff
• Making sure the Club meets the conditions of its club premises licence, and that bar staff have the alcohol training the law requires
• Looking after the Club’s financial administration — wages, PAYE/NI and supplier payments
• Being the first point of contact for members, guests and visiting societies
• Opening up, locking up and keeping the clubhouse, stock and takings secure

What we’re looking for

• Solid bar or hospitality management experience - stock, rotas, staff supervision
• A good working understanding of licensing law and the responsible sale of alcohol
• Confidence with basic financial administration - payroll and invoices
• Someone trustworthy and self-reliant: this role carries sole key-holder responsibility
• A warm, professional manner with members, guests and Committee alike
• Experience in a members’ club or committee-run environment is a bonus, not a must

Hours

40 hours per week, worked across up to six days from Monday to Sunday, typically between 7.00am and 11.00pm, with flexibility around competitions, functions and the needs of the Club. Evenings and weekends are part of the rhythm of club life.
