CNC Machinist

We’re looking for an experienced CNC Programmer / Operator to join an established business in Hastings. This is a hands-on role for someone who can confidently set, operate and program CNC turning machinery, while also bringing strong manual machining skills.

What’s on Offer? £40,000 – £45,000 per annum 25 days annual leave + bank holidaysKey Responsibilities Set and operate CNC turning machinery Work with both horizontal and vertical CNC lathes Run programmes directly and remotely Programme bespoke components using CAM software Carry out manual turning and traditional machining operations Interpret detailed engineering drawings Set workpieces, tooling, offsets and machine parameters Use G-code and M-code effectively Carry out quality checks to ensure components meet specification Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing activitiesSkills, Experience, and Training Requirements Proven experience in CNC turning and programming Strong manual turning experience Experience with CAM software, ideally Delcam or Mastercam Good knowledge of G-code, M-code, offsets and machine functions Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings Experience producing bespoke or low-volume components ONC/HNC in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience Strong understanding of machining and precision metalworking Lean manufacturing experience would be advantageousOur Ideal CandidateYou’ll be an experienced CNC machinist who can do more than simply operate a machine. You’ll be confident setting, programming and problem-solving, with the practical skills to take a component from drawing through to finished product.
