About the Role
The CNC Operator will be responsible for the
safe, accurate and efficient operation of CNC woodworking machinery
, producing high-quality bespoke joinery components in line with approved production drawings, CNC programmes and technical specifications.
Working closely with the Design, CNC Programming, Bench Joinery and Production teams, the successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring components are manufactured accurately, efficiently and to programme.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC woodworking machinery in accordance with production schedules.
Safely load and unload sheet materials and components.
Select and install the appropriate tooling for each machining operation.
Read and interpret production drawings, cutting lists, machining documentation and works orders.
Operate CNC programmes provided by the CNC Programmer.
Carry out machine set-up and test runs where required.
Monitor machining operations to ensure components are produced accurately.
Measure finished components against drawings and required tolerances.
Identify machining defects, tooling issues and programme errors and report them promptly.
Carry out routine machine cleaning and daily maintenance checks.
Replace cutters and tooling as required and follow correct tool management procedures.
Monitor machine performance and maximise machine utilisation.
Communicate production progress, machine issues and material requirements effectively.
Assist with the movement and storage of materials within the manufacturing department.
Maintain a clean, organised and efficient CNC work area.
Support colleagues across the manufacturing department to ensure efficient project delivery.
Follow all Company Health & Safety policies, machine operating procedures and safe systems of work.
Contribute to continuous improvements in manufacturing efficiency, machine utilisation and product quality.
Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by Management.
Requirements / Skills:
Previous experience operating
CNC woodworking machinery
, ideally within a bespoke joinery, furniture or manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, cutting lists and production documentation.
Experience setting up CNC machinery and selecting appropriate tooling.
Good understanding of CNC machining processes and woodworking materials.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality components.
Ability to identify machining defects, tooling issues and programme errors.
Basic understanding of machine maintenance and preventative maintenance procedures.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work efficiently to production schedules and deadlines.
Strong awareness of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment.
Reliable, organised and willing to work as part of a busy production team.
A proactive approach to identifying and resolving production issues.
