Job Description
CNC Programmer / Setter
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting and preparing CNC milling jobs, ensuring components are manufactured accurately and efficiently to drawing specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme and set CNC milling machines using Siemens ShopMill.
- Write CNC programmes from scratch, working from engineering drawings with minimal supervision.
- Accurately interpret technical drawings, tolerances and specifications.
- Set up and prove out jobs, ensuring tooling, programmes and cutting conditions are suitable.
- Prepare jobs for machine operators to run independently.
- Check and inspect your own work to ensure components meet drawing requirements.
- Select appropriate tooling and machining strategies.
- Apply a strong understanding of machining processes, feeds, speeds and cutting conditions.
- Manage your own workload and priorities while maintaining high standards of quality.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience in CNC programming and setting.
- Strong experience with Siemens ShopMill.
- Proven ability to write CNC programmes from scratch.
- Confident working independently from engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of technical drawings, tolerances and inspection requirements.
- Experience setting up jobs for machine operators to run independently.
- Good knowledge of machining processes, tooling and cutting conditions.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a high standard of quality and accuracy
