Job Description
Are you flexible, patient, caring and confident with children and young people? This is a small SEN college that caters for young adults with PMLD, Complex needs, ASD and Speech and Language difficulties.
£110 - £130 per day, depending on experience
35 hours per week, Term Time only
8.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday
Up to £130 per day for candidates with extensive experience or qualifications such as Teaching Assistant at NVQ Level 2 or above
Not only will you gain invaluable first-hand experience in a secondary school environment, you will also have the opportunity to network with Speech and Language specialists and ELSA practitioners based at the school. This is also a great opportunity if you have considered a future in teaching or education.
About the role
- Working in a mainstream secondary school that has a high number of pupils with SEND needs
- Deliver classroom support for Key Stage 3 pupils either 1:1 or groups of students
- Understand and support independent learning and inclusion of all students as required
- Support the teaching in monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress
- Monitor and manage stock and supplies for the classroom
- Supervise students between lessons and when entering and leaving the school
The right candidate
- Maths and English GCSE grade A*-C / 9-4 or equivalent
- Experience of working with young people, particularly those with SEND needs.
- Confident to converse with parents, students and members of the public
- Good ICT skills
