Commercial Director Pumps, Water & Engineered Solutions £75,000 basic + Company Car + Benefits Valenti Recruitment is exclusively supporting an established and ambitious engineering business in the appointment of a Commercial Director to lead its next phase of profitable growth. This is a significant senior leadership opportunity within a technically-led B2B organisation operating across pump distribution, engineered systems, technical solutions and associated services. We are specifically looking for someone with strong commercial leadership experience within the pumps, water treatment, chemical dosing, fluid handling, process engineering or closely related industrial engineering sectors. This is not a generalist Commercial Director appointment. Industry knowledge and experience of selling technical or engineered solutions into industrial markets will be essential. The Opportunity Reporting directly to the Managing Director and forming part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will take ownership of the company's commercial strategy and performance. You will lead the sales function, develop the commercial team and drive sustainable growth across both the established distribution business and the growing engineered Systems & Solutions division. A major focus will be moving the business beyond traditional product sales into higher-value engineered solutions, strategic customer partnerships and recurring service and maintenance revenue. You will have direct responsibility for Field Sales Executives and work closely with the Pump Distribution Manager, Engineering, Finance, Projects and wider leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and deliver the overall commercial strategy Lead profitable revenue and margin growth Lead, coach and develop the field sales team Drive sales planning, budgeting and forecasting Improve CRM discipline and pipeline visibility Develop strategic customer and key account relationships Improve quote conversion and structured account development Lead new market and sector growth Develop relationships with Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors Grow higher-value engineered Systems & Solutions sales Develop recurring revenue through service and maintenance agreements Work closely with Engineering to develop technically-led customer solutions Drive customer retention and structured win-back activity Support recruitment, succession planning and development of the commercial team Contribute to Board reporting and wider business strategy Support commercial evaluation of future investment and acquisition opportunities Target Markets The business has ambitious growth plans across sectors including: Water Water treatment Chemical dosing Food & beverage Industrial process Energy Engineered systems Pump and fluid handling applications

About You

You will already be operating at a senior commercial level within a technical, engineering or industrial B2B environment. You must be able to demonstrate: Senior commercial or sales leadership experience Strong experience within pumps, water treatment, dosing, fluid handling, process equipment or a closely related technical engineering market A proven track record of delivering profitable revenue growth Experience leading and developing high-performing sales teams Strong commercial understanding of revenue, gross margin and profitability Strategic account development experience Strong forecasting, CRM and pipeline management capability Experience developing new markets and commercial opportunities The ability to sell and lead the sale of technically complex or engineered solutions Excellent negotiation and senior customer relationship skills Strong strategic thinking combined with the ability to remain commercially hands-on Experience developing recurring service, maintenance or lifecycle revenue would be particularly advantageous. A degree or equivalent professional qualification in Business, Engineering or a related discipline would be desirable but is not essential.
