Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Commercial Gas Engineer role based in East Riding of Yorkshire. The Commercial Gas Engineer will carry out installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial gas systems, including boilers, burners, and associated plant and equipment. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing faults, performing routine servicing, testing systems for safety and performance, and ensuring compliance with relevant gas and building regulations. The role involves attending scheduled and reactive callouts, completing accurate job reports, and communicating clearly with clients and colleagues about work carried out and any follow-up requirements. The engineer will also support project work, assist in system upgrades, and participate in health and safety procedures and site risk assessments.
Qualifications
- Relevant commercial gas qualifications (e.g., ACS commercial gas certifications such as COCN1 or equivalent) and up-to-date Gas Safe registration or eligibility.
- Proven experience installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial gas appliances, boilers, and associated plant in commercial or industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of gas safety regulations, industry standards, and health and safety best practices for working on commercial sites.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer documentation, and apply them in practical settings.
- Effective problem-solving and diagnostic skills, with the ability to work independently and manage workload on multiple sites.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including completing service reports and interacting professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within East Riding of Yorkshire and nearby areas as required.
- Experience with other mechanical or HVAC systems (e.g., pumps, pipework, heating controls) is beneficial.
- Apprenticeship or formal training in gas engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline is advantageous.
