Contract Length: Until 18/12/26
Location: Hybrid/North Greenwich – (Tuesday's and Wednesday's in office)
IR35: Inside
Pay Rate to Intermediary: £529.95 per day
Spinwell is recruiting for a Commercial Manager for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE COMMERCIAL MANAGER
- Contribute to the development and implementation of category strategies and the delivery of sourcing requirements, understanding demand by forecasting and planning requirements.
- Develop commercial approaches and creative solutions that deliver requirements in line with business needs, category strategy and market trends.
- Perform end to end strategic sourcing activities working to develop a clear and agreed view of business requirements and commercial requirements, serving as a subject matter expert, providing professional guidance to business areas.
- Evaluate a range of sourcing models and support the development of options for a business case and identify opportunities to develop collaborative partnerships with suppliers to deliver value for money, sourcing compliance and frameworks.
- Ensure effective contract and supplier management within the category through evaluation of supplier performance, overseeing the realisation of benefits and evaluating whether a contract is achieving a successful return on investment.
- Reporting on progress and/or challenges and managing risk and reward mechanisms in contracts and KPIs
- Manage strategic relationships and hold both suppliers and customers accountable for delivering their contractual commitments.
- Resolve disputes, perform contract exit activity, and advise on mitigating risks to ensure contract delivery.
- Build and maintain key stakeholder relationship by engaging with relevant senior business leads to ensure business requirements are supported by category strategies by feeding into and supporting direction setting for the category.
- Work across the value chain to identify opportunities to reduce cost.
- Lead a team and be responsible for the day-to-day people leadership and development, including succession planning.
- Support the establishment, implementation, and ensure delivery of responsible procurement best practice, performance, and development.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE COMMERCIAL MANAGER
- Public sector procurement experience.
- Strong pre-contract procurement expertise (strategy, tendering, evaluation).
- Strong governance paper drafting and approval
- Strong stakeholder management
- Ability to apply market knowledge and data insight creatively (optioneering).
- Ability to work in a challenging environment with demanding stakeholders.
- Collaborative and proactive mindset.
- CIPS qualification preferred but not mandatory.
