Commercial Manager - Construction

About the Role

Our client is looking for a strategic and experienced Commercial Manager to oversee the commercial aspects of their construction projects based in or around Brighton . This senior role requires a deep understanding of contract law, cost management, risk assessment, and financial forecasting within the construction industry. You will lead a team of surveyors and contract administrators, ensuring profitability and robust commercial control across multiple projects. This is a critical position for an individual seeking to drive commercial success and contribute to the strategic direction of a growing construction enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects.
• Develop and implement commercial strategies to maximize project profitability.
• Oversee tendering, negotiation, and award of subcontracts.
• Manage claims, variations, and disputes effectively and proactively.
• Provide commercial advice and support to project teams and senior management.
• Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations and financial regulations.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in a Commercial Manager role within the construction sector.
• Strong expertise in contract management (e.g., NEC, JCT).
• Proven ability in financial management, cost control, and risk mitigation.
• Excellent negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Law, or a related commercial discipline.
