Are you a passionate and experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse looking to make a real difference in the lives of people affected by eating disorders?

We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 6 Enhanced Treatment Team Community Outreach Practitioner to join our specialist Eating Disorders Service at South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust for a 12 month fixed-term contract or secondment.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Enhanced Treatment Team, providing intensive community-based treatment and support to adults experiencing eating disorders. The service aims to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions, support earlier discharge from inpatient care and deliver high-quality treatment within people's homes and local communities.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will manage a caseload of service users with complex eating disorders, undertaking comprehensive mental and physical health assessments, delivering therapeutic interventions, providing meal support, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The role offers the opportunity to combine specialist clinical practice, physical healthcare, leadership and community outreach within a rewarding and innovative service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will:

• Deliver specialist eating disorder interventions within service users' homes, community settings and outpatient environments.
• Undertake comprehensive biopsychosocial, risk and physical health assessments.
• Coordinate and manage a caseload of service users receiving Enhanced Treatment Team support.
• Provide therapeutic meal support and contribute to nutritional rehabilitation plans.
• Support admission avoidance and facilitate safe discharge from inpatient services.
• Monitor physical health, including weight, observations and venepuncture/phlebotomy following appropriate training and competency assessment.
• Develop and implement person-centred care plans in partnership with service users, carers and the multidisciplinary team.
• Deliver recovery-focused interventions that promote independence, wellbeing and social inclusion.
• Provide leadership, supervision and support to junior staff and students.
• Participate in service development, audit, quality improvement and clinical governance activities.

Person specification

Education & Qualificaitons

Essential criteria

• Registered Adult Nurse and/or Registered Mental Health Nurse and/or Registered Learning Disabilities Nurse.
• Mentorship qualification.

Desirable criteria

• Master's degree.

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria

• Experience of research based/reflective practice, e.g. understanding and ability to use supervision to reflect on skills, attitude and knowledge and develop these by using evidence based practice.
• Significant relevant clinical experience.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Experience as a preceptor / mentor.
• Knowledge of clinical governance and audit.
• Knowledge of relevant Professional and Clinical legislation.

Desirable criteria

• Experience of taking responsibility for a ward / clinical unit.
• Experience of engaging / supporting clinical research projects.
• Experience of supporting practice development in clinical areas.
• Experience of teaching. e.g. lecturer practitioner/preceptorship.
• Experience of recruitment and selection of staff.
• Lived experience of mental health.
