Community Support Worker - Elderly Care

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Community Support Worker to provide essential care and assistance to elderly individuals within their own homes in the Newcastle upon Tyne area. This role is crucial in enabling older adults to maintain their independence and quality of life. You will offer practical help, emotional support, and companionship, ensuring that clients feel valued and well-cared for. This position requires empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of seniors in the Tyne and Wear region, working flexibly to support diverse client needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care tasks, including washing, dressing, and medication reminders.
• Provide support with domestic chores, meal preparation, and shopping.
• Offer companionship and engage in social activities to combat isolation.
• Accompany clients to appointments or social outings as required.
• Monitor client well-being and report any changes in condition to the care manager promptly.
• Maintain clear and accurate daily records of care provided.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a care setting, preferably with the elderly, is desirable but not essential.
• Compassionate nature and a strong commitment to providing high-quality care.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and obtain relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care).
• Access to reliable transportation for home visits within Newcastle upon Tyne and surrounding areas.
