About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Conservation Architect to join their specialist team in Portsmouth . This role focuses on the sensitive repair, restoration, and adaptive reuse of historic buildings and heritage assets. You will be responsible for understanding complex historical structures, undertaking condition surveys, and developing conservation strategies that respect the integrity and significance of heritage properties. Key Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed surveys and analysis of historic buildings to assess their condition and significance.
• Develop conservation management plans and repair strategies for heritage assets.
• Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and schedules for conservation works.
• Liaise with heritage bodies, such as Historic England, and local planning authorities on conservation projects.
• Administer conservation contracts, ensuring high standards of craftsmanship and materials.
• Advise clients on best practices for the maintenance and sustainable use of historic properties.

Requirements

• Qualified Architect with significant experience in historic building conservation .
• Specialist knowledge of traditional building materials, construction techniques, and repair methods.
• Proficiency in relevant software for drawing and documentation.
• Understanding of heritage legislation and policy in the UK.
• Excellent report writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in project management of sensitive heritage projects.
