About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Conservation Architect to join their esteemed practice in Leeds , specialising in the sensitive refurbishment and preservation of historic buildings. This role is crucial for protecting and enhancing the UK's architectural heritage. You will be responsible for assessing the condition of historic structures, developing conservation strategies, and overseeing the implementation of repair and restoration works. Working on a variety of listed buildings and heritage assets across Yorkshire and beyond, you will bring your expertise to projects that require meticulous attention to detail, a deep understanding of traditional materials, and a commitment to best conservation practices. Key Responsibilities

• Undertake condition surveys and historical research for listed buildings and heritage assets.
• Develop detailed conservation plans, repair strategies, and specifications for historic structures.
• Manage projects involving the repair, refurbishment, and adaptive reuse of heritage properties.
• Liaise with heritage bodies (e.g., Historic England), local authorities, and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide expert advice on materials, techniques, and best practices for conservation projects.
• Ensure all work is carried out to the highest conservation standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Qualified Architect with a postgraduate specialization or significant demonstrated experience in Conservation Architecture .
• Thorough understanding of historic building typologies, construction methods, and conservation principles.
• Experience working with heritage planning policies and listed building consent processes.
• Proficiency in architectural drawing and documentation, with strong analytical skills.
• Excellent report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., RIBA Conservation Register) is highly desirable.
