About the Role

Our client seeks a dedicated Conservation Architect to join their specialist team in Edinburgh . This role is ideal for an architect with a deep appreciation for heritage and a meticulous approach to the preservation, restoration, and sensitive adaptation of historic buildings. You will be responsible for undertaking detailed surveys, developing conservation strategies, and overseeing works on a variety of historically significant structures. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute directly to the safeguarding of Scotland's architectural heritage, working with unique buildings and a team committed to their long-term preservation.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake detailed condition surveys and historical research for heritage assets.
Develop conservation management plans and repair strategies for historic buildings.
Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and schedules for conservation and restoration works.
Liaise with heritage bodies such as Historic Environment Scotland, local authority conservation officers, and other stakeholders.
Oversee site works to ensure that repairs and interventions are carried out to the highest conservation standards.
Provide expert advice on the appropriate use of materials and traditional building techniques.

Requirements

Qualified Architect (RIBA Part III or equivalent) with significant experience in conservation architecture .
In-depth knowledge of historic building typologies, materials, and conservation principles.
Experience working with heritage assets and navigating planning and listed building consent processes.
Proficiency in architectural drawing software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and historical research methods.
Strong understanding of traditional construction methods and materials.
Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
