About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Conservation Architect to join their respected practice in Cambridge . This role focuses on the sensitive restoration, repair, and adaptation of historic buildings and heritage assets. You will apply specialist knowledge of building conservation principles and techniques to a range of significant architectural heritage projects across the region. Key Responsibilities

• Undertake condition surveys and detailed assessments of historic buildings.
• Develop conservation strategies and proposals for the repair and sensitive adaptation of heritage assets.
• Prepare specifications and drawings for conservation works, adhering to best practices.
• Liaise with heritage bodies (e.g., Historic England, local authorities) and clients.
• Manage conservation projects, ensuring compliance with conservation principles and project requirements.
• Provide expert advice on materials, construction techniques, and historical context.

Requirements

• Professional qualification in Architecture (e.g., RIBA) with significant experience in building conservation .
• Specialist knowledge of historic building materials, construction methods, and conservation philosophy.
• Experience in preparing conservation statements, repair specifications, and heritage impact assessments.
• Familiarity with relevant legislation and guidance concerning heritage assets.
• Proficiency in relevant architectural software for documentation and design.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to heritage contexts.
