About the Role
Our client is looking for a passionate Conservation Officer to join their environmental team, focusing on projects within the Wolverhampton region. This hybrid role involves developing and implementing conservation strategies, managing protected sites, and engaging with local communities to promote biodiversity and sustainable land use. You will play a key role in safeguarding natural habitats and species, working both in the field and from a home office. Your expertise will be vital in driving impactful conservation initiatives and fostering a greater understanding of ecological importance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage conservation projects, including habitat restoration and species protection programmes.
- Conduct ecological surveys and monitor biodiversity indicators on protected sites.
- Liaise with landowners, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure conservation objectives are met.
- Organize and lead volunteer groups for conservation activities and practical site management.
- Develop educational materials and deliver presentations to raise public awareness about local wildlife and conservation issues.
- Ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation and conservation policies.
Requirements
- Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in practical conservation work or environmental management.
- Strong knowledge of UK flora, fauna, and habitat types.
- Experience with ecological survey techniques and data analysis.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and community engagement skills.
- Ability to manage projects, budgets, and work independently or as part of a team.
